1. Start Small

You have to start with a version of the habit that is incredibly easy for you. It must be so easy that you can’t say no to doing it and so easy that it is not difficult at all in the beginning.

2. Build on your habit each day

You have to increase your habit each day, but in an incredibly small way.

3. Always Keep It Simple!

Even after increasing your habit, all repetitions must remain easy. The total habit should be broken down into easier pieces if needed.

4. Laser Focus

Focus on what you really want to achieve and remove all surrounding distractions.

5. Generate a System

Plan out how you will stick to your habits, how are you going to stay passionate and focused?

6. Don’t Push Away Your Happiness

Don’t push happiness off until you hit some future milestone. Allow yourself to be happy in the moment. Be happy while you are working on the task. While you are working on building your skill set, rather than thinking it is something you will get to once you are good enough.

Ekiti Debt Profile: Fayemi Replies Fayose

Ekiti Debt Profile: Fayemi Replies Fayose

Fayemi and Fayose
The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has urged his successor, Ayodele Fayose, to study the handover notes before passing unfavourable comments on his administration.
The former governor described as “reckless,” comments credited to Governor Fayose in his inaugural speech suggesting that the debt profile now stands as N84 billion.
Speaking on behalf of the ex-governor in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Tayo Ekundayo, Fayemi’s Commissioner for Information, said all credit facilities obtained by the former administration were not only documented but were equally made public.
According to him, Fayemi formally approached the capital market to obtain a N25 billion bond which he used in financing various landmark projects in the state.
He also claimed that the Federal Government owed Ekiti State as much as N20 billion under the immediate administration.
“Fayose should study the handing-over note carefully before making unnecessary noise about the debt profile of Ekiti. I have heard him saying that the debt profile of Ekiti State now stands at N84 billion. I want to say that it is nothing near that figure. We have noticed that tendency in the past but we have refused to join issues with him.
“It is too early for Fayose to be talking about us. He should understand that there is difference between being a candidate of a party and executive of a state,” he said.
According to Ekundayo, over N14 billion has been paid out of the N25 billion.
“Fayose should know that he has assumed a new status now, which is quite different from where he was before now. What I will advise him to do now is to settle down and see how he would improve on the legacies of Kayode Fayemi administration,” the former commissioner said.

Leadership Is About Emotion

Leadership Is About Emotion

Make a list of the 5 leaders you most admire. They can be from business, social media, politics, technology, the sciences, any field. Now ask yourself why you admire them. The chances are high that your admiration is based on more than their accomplishments, impressive as those may be. I’ll bet that everyone on your list reaches you on anemotional level.
This ability to reach people in a way that transcends the intellectual and rational is the mark of a great leader. They all have it. They inspire us. It’s a simple as that. And when we’re inspired we tap into our best selves and deliver amazing work.
So, can this ability to touch and inspire people be learned? No and yes. The truth is that not everyone can lead, and there is no substitute for natural talent. Honestly, I’m more convinced of this now – I’m in reality about the world of work and employee engagement. But for those who fall somewhat short of being a natural born star (which is pretty much MANY of us), leadership skills can be acquired, honed and perfected. And when this happens your chances of engaging your talent increases from the time they walk into your culture.

Let’s Take A Look At Tools That Allow For Talent To Shine:
Emotional intelligence. Great leaders understand empathy, and have the ability to read people’s (sometimes unconscious, often unstated) needs and desires. This allows them to speak to these needs and, when at all possible, to fulfill them. When people feel they are understood and empathized something, they respond PERIOD and a bond is formed.
Continuous learning. Show me a know-it-all and I’ll show you someone who doesn’t have a clue about being human. Curiosity and an insatiable desire to always do better is the mark of a great leader. They are rarely satisfied with the status quo, and welcome new knowledge and fresh (even if challenging) input. It’s all about investing in yourself.
Contextualize. Great leaders respond to each challenge with a fresh eye. They know that what worked in one situation may be useless in another. Before you act, make sure you understand the specifics of the situation and tailor your actions accordingly.
Let Go. Too many people think leadership is about control. In fact, great leaders inspire and then get out of the way. They know that talented people don’t need or want hovering managers. Leadership is about influence, guidance, and support, not control. Look for ways to do your job and then get out of the way so that people can do theirs.
Honesty.  Not a week goes by that we don’t hear about a so-called leader losing credibility because he or she was dishonest. Often this is because of pressure to try and “measure up” and it’s not coming from a place of being real – often this relates to fear of not being accepted for your true self. We live in age of extraordinary transparency, which is reason enough to always be true to your core – your mission will be revealed, your motivations will show by your behaviors. But it goes way beyond this. It’s an issue that sets an example and elevates an organization. If you have a reputation for honesty, it will be a lot easier to deliver bad news and face tough challenges. Are you inspiring people from your heart?
Kindness and respect. Nice leaders (people) don’t finish last. They finish first again and again. Ignorance and arrogance are leadership killers. They’re also a mark of insecurity. Treating everyone with a basic level respect is an absolute must trait of leadership. And kindness is the gift that keeps on giving back. Of course, there will be people who prove they don’t deserve respect and they must be dealt with. But that job will be made much easier, and will have far less impact on your organization, if you have a reputation for kindness, honesty and respect.
Collaboration. People’s jobs and careers are integral to their lives. The more your organization can make them a partner, the more they will deliver amazing results. This means, to the greatest extent possible, communicating your organization’s strategies, goals and challenges. This builds buy-in, and again is a mark of respect. People won’t be blindsided (which is a workplace culture killer) by setbacks if they’re in the loop.
Partner with your people. As I said above, people’s careers are a big part of their lives. That seems like a no-brainer, but leaders should have it front and center at all times. Find out what your employees’ career goals are and then do everything you can to help them reach them. Even if it means they will eventually leave your organization. You will gain happy, productive employees who will work with passion and commitment, and tout your company far and wide. This an opportunity to brand your greatness.
Leadership is both an art and a science. These tools are guidelines, not rigid rules. Everyone has to develop his or her own individual leadership style. Make these tools a part of your arsenal and use them well as you strive to reach people on an emotional level. Be Human. This Matters.

Lagos Judge:No Hijab In Lagos Schools

Lagos Judge:No Hijab In Lagos Schools

School children on
An Ikeja High Court in Lagos State on Friday upheld the ban on the wearing of hijab (Muslim head scarf) in public primary and secondary schools in the state.
The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria brought the case challenging the ban on wearing the hijab in public primary and secondary schools, which was introduced in Lagos State last year.
Judge Modpue Onyeabo, sitting at the High Court in Lagos, said in her ruling: "The application fails in its entirety.
"The ban on the use of hijab in public schools in Lagos is not a breach of the applicants' fundamental rights to religion because Nigeria as a secular state does not adopt any religion as a state religion.
"Removing the ban on the hijab will be tantamount to promoting a particular religion against the others and this may lead to social tensions."
The Lagos State government introduced the ban in May 2013, three months after Muslim groups reacted in outrage at a school principal who flogged a female student for wearing the hijab at a secondary school.
Constitutionally secular Nigeria is almost evenly split between a Muslim-majority north and predominantly Christian south.
Religion, however, is never far from the surface in public discourse, with politicians regularly referring to their faith, while tensions frequently boil over into communal violence.
In the country's northeast, Boko Haram militants are fighting to create a hardline Islamic state, while sharia -- Islamic law -- is run as a parallel justice system in many northern states.
The applicants' lawyer, Shakirullahi Obale, said the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria was not satisfied with the ruling and said they would appeal to a higher court.
Religious education is taught in state schools and there is no apparent ban on religious symbols such as crucifixes.
In her judgment, judge Onyeabo added: "The state policy on dressing code is to promote public order and peace.
"The use of common uniform is for identification and to foster a sense of unity in public schools in the state. All applicants into a public school must obey the school's rules and regulations, including the dress code."
More than 200 campaigners, most of them young girls in the hijab, which covers the hair and upper body, were both inside and outside the court to support the challenge.

Obanikoro, Maku, Wike, 4 Others Resign As Ministers

Obanikoro, Maku, Wike, 4 Others Resign As Ministers

Musiliu Obanikoro
Seven ministers in President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet have resigned their positions.
Those who resigned are Ministers of Information, Labaran Maku; Trade and Industry, Samuel Ortom; State for Education, Nyesom Wike; and State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro. Others are Ministers of Labour, Emeka Wogu; Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu; State for Niger Delta, Dairus Ishaku.
The ministers quit their posts to pursue their political ambitions, the government said.
The ministers, whose departure had long been expected, will contest gubernatorial elections in their respective states.
Maku intends to replace Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nassarawa State and, therefore, win the state currently being ruled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP while Wogu is said to be nursing the ambition of succeeding Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State.
Wike is interested in taking over Rivers State from Governor Rotimi Amaechi; Ortom has his eyes on the seat to be vacated by Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State while Obanikoro also plans to take over Lagos State from Governor Babatunde Fashola and the APC.
Maku had confirmed his own departure from the cabinet last weekend when he attended a thanksgiving church service in his state capital, Lafia, during which he also gave October 20 as the day he will resign his appointment.
The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, thanked the seven ministers on behalf of the FEC and wish them the best in their future endeavours while Maku responded on behalf of the ministers who are exiting the cabinet.

Declaration Speech By General Muhammadu Buhari For Presidential Primaries, Abuja.

Declaration Speech By General Muhammadu Buhari For Presidential Primaries, Abuja,

 APC Release
General Muhammadu Buhari
First I would like, Mr Chairman, if I may, pay tribute to Nigerians as a whole who are enduring all sorts of hardships and deprivations on a daily basis. Many millions are grappling with extreme poverty and barely eking out a living. Nearly all are in fear of their lives or safety for themselves and their families due to Insurgency by the godless movement called Boko Haram;
  • By marauding murderers in towns and villages;
  • By armed robbers on the highways;
  • By kidnappers who have put whole communities to fright and sometimes to flight.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is everyone’s duty to resolve and help the national effort to overcome these immense challenges. I would like us to place on record our appreciation for the efforts of our Armed Forces under new leadership and police in confronting these challenges.
I would like, secondly, to thank our supporters up and down the country for their perseverance and resolve in face of an oppressive PDP government.
Mr Chairman, this is an occasion to celebrate our efforts and to resolve to continue until victory is won. I humbly wish to present myself before you, before all of Nigeria and before God seeking to be elected as APC’s Presidential candidate. Having appreciated that the only way to relieve Nigerians of the PDP, the main opposition parties decided to pool their strengths into one party. We have worked very hard in the last 18 months to put up structures from the polling units to wards, local governments, states and the centre.
We have tried to ensure all processes in our party formation to be transparent and credible. These structures will lead to free and fair polls. There is no point in holding elections if they are not free and fair.
Interference in the form of rigging which PDP Government has practised since 2003 is the worst form of injustice – denying people their right to express their opinions. Whether they like it or not, injustice cannot endure.
Since 1999 PDP has presided over our country’s decline. Nigeria in my experience has never been so divided, so polarized by an unthinking government hell bent on ruling and stealing forever whatever befalls the country. Mr Chairman, we in APC are resolved to stop them in their tracks and rescue Nigeria from the stranglehold of PDP.
The last 16 years of PDP Government has witnessed decline in all critical sectors of life in Nigeria
  • There is now general insecurity in the land
Quite apart from Boko Haram, there is prevalence of Armed Robbery, kidnappings and killings, cattle rustling, market and farmland arson.
These outrages have taken a new and a frightening dimension, disrupting economic and social life across whole communities.
  • The economy continues to deteriorate while the Government continues to announce fantastic growth figures but manufacturing is down, agriculture is down, commerce is down
Simply because you sell oil and steal part of the money does not entitle you to cook figures and announce phantom economic growth when all the major indices namely,
  • Employment
  • Manufacturing
  • Farming
  • Trading
are demonstrably on the decline.
  • When PDP came to power in 1999 Nigeria was generating about 4,000 M/W of electricity. After 15 years and $20 billion spent we are generating between 3,000 – 4,000 M/W. No failure is more glaring than this.
We in APC are resolved to bring change to Nigeria. We plan to do things differently.
We plan to put priority on
  • Protection of lives and property.
  • Pursuing economic policies for shared prosperity and immediate attention on youth employment.
  • Quality education for development, modernity and social mobility.
  • Agricultural productivity for taking millions out of poverty and ensuring food security.
  • Reviving Industry to generate employment and “make things” not just to remain hawkers of other peoples’ goods.
  • Developing solid minerals exploitation which will substantially attract employment and revenue for government.
  • Restoring honour and integrity to public service by keeping the best and attracting the best.
  • Tackling corruption which has become blatant and widespread. The rest of the world looks at Nigeria as the home of corruption. Nigeria is a country where stealing is not corruption.
  • Last, (but not the least or final) respecting the constitutional separation of powers between the executive, legislatures and judiciary and respecting the rights of citizens.
Mr Chairman, there, in outline are some policy proposals about the direction APC should take when, by the grace of God, we are given the responsibility of serving Nigeria in Government.
General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR
